Job Overview:
The Kaplan Technology team is looking for a Voice Architect/Senior Telecom Engineer to work out of our New York City corporate headquarters. In this position, you will engineer and project manage the opening and ongoing management of the telephony services of multiple call centers as well as the migration of those services from existing call centers. The position requires expert knowledge of Northern Telecom Meridian products and VoIP. Must have in depth experience with Succession, networked Symposium, Call Pilot and Optivity. Experience with Traffic Management is critical, as is an in depth understanding of call center reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with business unit heads to understand current and projected needs for inbound and outbound call centers as well as reporting needs.
  • Oversee engineering design of voice architecture for multiple call centers and manage installation of new equipment and migration of existing services, including CPE and telco.
  • Interface with other technology project managers and engineers.
  • Communicate with senior managers on project status

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree and a demonstrated understanding of convergent technologies.
  • At least 10 years of telephony engineering project management experience; at least 5 years should be direct call center experience.
  • At least 8 years Northern Telecom experience. Certifications in Succession, networked Symposium, Call Pilot and Optivity a plus.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with configuration of voice-networked call centers. Must be familiar with VoIP telephony.
  • Travel will be required
     

 

 
Audio-Visual Technician/Specialist, posted 4/5/04

Job Overview:
This position provides day to day support for Audio and Video Teleconferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating conference schedules with Conference Services staff and determining necessary equipment.
  • Verify and test equipment and information provided prior to the conference.
  • Setup of equipment prior to the conference.
  • Initiate point to point and multi point audio and video teleconferences.
  • Monitor and standby to support conference as required. ][
  • Diagnose and correct issues as they arise.
  • Take down and return equipment when completed.
  • Maintain and keep Audio/Visual equipment in good working order, working with and managing outside vendors as required.
  • Install new equipment as required.

Experience Needed:
Successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of videoconferencing technologies and their applications, including H.320, H.323 and related standards, experience with multiple location setups using IP or ISDN, and experience with Polycom, PictureTel, Gentner, and/or Tandberg equipment. In addition, successful candidates must have experience with Microsoft Windows videoconferencing. Candidate must be able to work independently and have strong communication skills.
